YSI 2700 SELECT BIOCHEMISTRY ANALYZER

BIOPROCESS MONITORING
Fermentation and cell cultures require tight control of system variables to achieve consistent, desirable results.  Regulating variables, such as oxygen, pH and temperature, has long been accepted as important for assuring viable processes.  More recently, researchers have recognized the need to regulate nutrients and byproducts as well, and have determined that controlling them plays a vital role in the health and productivity of their processes.

The YSI Select Biochemistry Analyzer provides the vital information about your processes.  It provides rapid, accurate analysis of key nutrients and byproducts, including:

Glucose Glutamine Sucrose Methanol
Lactate Glutamate Galactose Starch
Lactose Ethanol Hydrogen Peroxide Choline

The YSI Select Biochemistry Analyzer can be used to perform Off-Line Analysis to provide results in 60 seconds while using a sample volume as low as 25 micro liters.  And the best feature of all is that no sample preparation is required- no filtration and no dilution in most cases.

YSI Select 2700M

On-Line Monitoring

of a Bioreactor

For processes that require frequent monitoring and regulation, On-Line Analysis allows you the freedom to sample automatically and adjust nutrient byproduct concentration.  The YSI 2730 Aseptic Monitoring & Control system pulls samples directly from a bioreactor, measures important nutrients and byproducts and immediately controls the replenishment of nutrients, if needed, while maintaining the sterility of the process.  All system components are sterilizable.

Off-Line Monitoring

using optional turntable

The optional YSI 2710 Turntable facilitates the analysis of batches of up to 24 samples.  Load the turntable, and the YSI Select will automatically analyze all the samples, print the results, and send them to a PC via RS232 connection, if desired.

YSI 8500 In Situ CO2 MONITOR

The YSI 8500 CO2 Monitor measures dissolved carbon dioxide in situ.  Featuring opto-chemical technology, this system is designed to fit within a variety of bioreactors to deliver precise, real-time data that will increase understanding of bioprocess development and manufacturing control.  The YSI 8500 allows monitoring of dissolved CO2 via real-time display of data, or the instrument's plot function can be used for viewing CO2 trends graphically.  Users can upload data to a computer or integrate the output into existing control processes.  Data points can be logged as frequently as every 15 seconds, but can be set to longer intervals to accommodate the specific application.

FEATURES OF THE YSI 8500 CO2 MONITOR IN AN OVERVIEW:

  • Patented opto-chemical technology

  • Autoclavable design
  • Accurate, in situ measurement
  • Real-time response
  • No CO2 consumption
  • User-defined data logging intervals
  • Affordable modular design
  • Easy-to-connect fiber-optic cable
  • Rugged, reusable stainless steel probes available in four styles
  • Easy-to-replace disposable sensor capsules

The YSI 8500 utilizes a fiber-optic cable to transfer light through a stainless-steel probe and into a disposable sensor capsule which contains a fluorescent dye.  As CO2 moves into the capsule's dye layer, a reaction occurs which changes the dye's fluorescence.  The resulting light emission from the dye is transferred back through the cable to the monitor, which calculates the level of dissolved CO2 based on ratiometric analysis of the dye's fluorescence.
